Nicholls observes Constitution Week

THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University will observe Constitution Week with several events and services beginning Monday, Sept. 19.

Members of the Student Government Association will distribute free copies of the United States Constitution in the lobby of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Sept. 19-22.

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the Department of History and Geography will sponsor a program on the life and legacy of Thibodaux native and Chief Justice of the United States Edward Douglass White. Professor Paul R. Baier of the LSU Law Center will present “Father Chief Justice: Notes for a Play” at 10:30 a.m. in Le Bijou Theater. Baier is an E.D. White scholar and author of a play about the former chief justice.

Finally, on Thursday, Sept. 22, members of the Student Programming Association will host a student union event titled “Pictures with the Founding Fathers.” Free photos with lookalikes of the Founding Fathers will be available from 12:30 to 2 p.m., along with historical information.
