BSAD 221. Legal Environment of Business. 3-3-0. Relationships among legal, political, and business environments; sources of law and their effects on business decisions; constitutional, administrative, and civil procedure; employment, environmental, and consumer law; social, ethical, and international facets of the legal environment. BSAD 241. Honors Legal Environment of Business. 3-3-0. Prerequisites: Honors placement or permission of department head. Exploration of the relationships among legal, political, and business environments through current events and real-world observation while utilizing written and oral communication skills; relevant areas of law and their practical application to business decisions including constitutional law, torts, intellectual property, civil procedure, employment law, and discrimination in the workplace. BSAD 324. Commercial Law. 3-3-0. Prerequisite: Completion of  54 hours of non-developmental coursework. Legal concepts relating to contracts, agency, sales of goods, commercial paper, bankruptcy, security interests, partnerships and corporations; application of the Uniform Commercial Code. (52.0101)

BSAD 325. Admiralty Law. 33-0. Prerequisite: Completion of 54 hours of non-developmental coursework. Historical and jurisdictional perspective of maritime law; sources of maritime law and its relationship to land-based laws; uniformity; maritime law as it pertains to commerce, vessel ownership and operation, marine contracts, cargo, torts, employment, the environment, liens, salvage and navigation; maritime practice and procedure. BSAD 490. Strategically Managing Organizations. 3-3-0. Prerequisites: C or better in BSAD 310 or ENGL 310; FINC 302; MNGT 301; and MKTG 300. Must be taken in last 18 hours of coursework. Open to business majors only. Capstone course integrating management and business functions in a problem-solving environment. Top management point of view is stressed. BSAD 501. Quantitative Business Analysis & Decision Support. 3-3-0. Prerequisite: QBA 282 or equivalent. Foundations of statistical methods for business analysis and decision making. Special topics covered include data collection; types of data; graphical analysis; descriptive statistics; frequency distributions; random variables; probability distributions; sampling distributions; estimation; hypothesis testing; correlation; linear regression; forecasting. BSAD 507. Leadership, Ethics & Accountability. 3-3-0. Examines leadership as the integrating force in the functional areas of a business enterprise. Key areas of study are (a) developing organizational goals and strategic plans, and (b) guiding, developing and motivating the people within the organization.   Contemporary leadership studies blend strategic thinking and psychological/behavioral aspects to achieve organizational goals within ethical frameworks. BSAD 525. Managing Strategic Resources for Competitive Advantage. 3-3-0. Prerequisites: C or better in each of the following courses: ECON 500, MKTG 501, MNGT 502 and FINC 515. Formulation and implementation of effective organizational strategy in the pursuit of a competitive advantage. The nature of strategy and its relationship with firm performance are stressed. Content topics include the importance of strategic direction, analyses of internal and external environments, business and corporate-level strategies, and strategy implementation. A case approach involving the integration of current concepts in all business disciplines. (52.0201)
