Nicholls to Offer Non-Credit Courses for Adults

THIBODAUX – The Office of Continuing Education at Nicholls State University is offering the following non-credit courses for adults during the month of November:

Computers

Microsoft Word: Level 1

This course will provide students with the basic concepts required to produce common business documents as well as give students the opportunity to apply them. Topics include creating a document, editing text, formatting text, formatting paragraphs, adding tables, using Word timesavers and setting page display and print options. The instructor will be Brett Bourg.

Class meetings: 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 27 and 28

Fee: $120, includes course manual

Special Interest

Child and Babysitting Safety for the Sitter, Ages 11 – 16

This course will provide information and skill training for younger individuals interested in babysitting. Hands-on skills training will prepare sitters for responsibility by teaching them to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Topics will include personal safety, fire safety, water safety, infant care, basic first aid and CPR. The instructor will be Tina LaRose.

Class meetings: 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 3

Fee: $60

Test Preparation And Certification Programs

Property and Casualty Insurance Pre-Licensing Course

This Louisiana State University video conferencing course offers the 32 hours of property and casualty class instruction suitable to prepare an individual to take the state insurance exams. The class material is designed to prepare the student for the exam and to provide a good education for a career in insurance. Topics include basic terminology, concepts, sales, the fundamentals of insurance law and the agent’s responsibilities.

Class meetings: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 2, 3, 9 and 10

Fee: $200, including course textbook
