Nicholls Sinfonia Singers to Present Debut Concert

THIBODAUX – The Sinfonia Singers, a newly formed men’s choir at Nicholls State University, will perform its debut concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, in Talbot Theater on the Nicholls campus.

Under the direction of Dr. Kenneth S. Klaus, professor of music and director of choral activities at Nicholls, the 18-voice Sinfonia Singers will present “Voices of Brotherhood.” Brotherhood is a consistent theme of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a fraternity for men in music.

The Sinfonia Singers will perform partial songs by Edvard Grieg, a Norwegian composer, and Franz Schubert, an Austrian composer. In addition, the choir will perform the familiar cowboy-themed songs, “Riders in the Sky” and “Streets of Laredo.” The program will conclude with a novelty number, “The Manly Men’s Chorus.”

Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, call (985) 856-9357 or (985) 859-8917.
