Couple establishes scholarship at Nicholls

THIBODAUX – Graduates of South Terrebonne High School will benefit from a new scholarship at Nicholls State University.

The Tiffany Pellegrin Endowed Memorial Scholarship will supplement the full-time, freshman tuition of one South Terrebonne High School graduate per year. The award is valued at $500, or $250 per fall and spring semesters.Couple Establishes Scholarship at Nicholls

Lynn and Monica Pellegrin, whose daughter Tiffany passed away from a rare bone disorder, endowed the memorial scholarship with an initial gift of $10,000. Monica said she hopes the endowment will eventually increase to $20,000.

“Education was important to my daughter,” Monica said. “I really feel good that this scholarship will help others in their own education.”

Rebecca Pennington, assistant vice president for development and university relations, said the Pellegrins have honored Nicholls by choosing to preserve their daughter’s memory in this way.

“With this scholarship, Tiffany’s legacy will help provide students with the opportunity to attend college,” Pennington said.

The University Scholarship Committee will select a first-semester freshman awardee on a yearly basis, beginning in the fall 2008 semester. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 overall grade point average.
