THIBODAUX – Debbie Raziano, director of alumni affairs at Nicholls State University, auctions off items at the 13th annual Sponsor A+ Scholar Wine and Food Extravaganza in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union on Wednesday, Oct. 8. ascholarbanquet2.jpgProceeds from the event, totaling more than $40,000, will benefit Nicholls students with outstanding grades and leadership ability. More than $320,000 has been raised since the fundraiser began in 1996, with more than 200 Nicholls students having received scholarships. Auction items this year included an original primitive art painting by Alvin Batiste; a 2008 Mardi Gras print autographed by celebrities; a football autographed by Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning; a Sony Playstation 3; and a variety of fine wines from the cellars of Shirley Picou.
