Award memorializes Nicholls student

THIBODAUX – A scholarship has been established to honor former Nicholls State University student Amanda Larpenter, who passed away in July 2007.

Administered by the Nicholls State University Foundation, the Amanda Larpenter Memorial Scholarship will provide $500 annually, payable at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters, to a full-time Nicholls student who graduated from H. L. Bourgeois High School.

The University Scholarship Committee will choose a recipient annually from nominations submitted to the Office of Scholarships. If awarded to an entering freshman, the award will remain payable for eight semesters, provided the recipient maintains full-time student status as well as a minimum 2.0 overall grade point average.

Donations to the Larpenter scholarship fund continue with the goal of achieving endowed status – a minimum of $10,000.

“I am especially grateful that $2,500 of the proceeds raised so far were generated via a 5K run sponsored by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of South Louisiana,”
said Cindy Larpenter, mother of Amanda.
