Scholars’ banquets attract more than 240 to Nicholls

More than 240 high school seniors attended one of three scholars’ banquets last week in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union at Nicholls State University.

At the close of each event, designed to familiarize attendees with Nicholls, they were each offered four-year academic scholarships ranging from $800 to $2,000 per semester – in addition to TOPS. About half accepted immediately, Courtney Cassard, director of enrollment services, said. Also attending the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday events were the students’ parents and many Nicholls faculty, staff and administrators. They heard brief speeches about Nicholls given by alumni and current holders of academic scholarships. Pictured is Dr. Eugene Dial, vice president for student affairs and enrollment services, listening to student prospects as they discuss their scholastic future.
