Naomi Judd to headline Nicholls conference in Little Rock

THIBODAUX – Country music icon Naomi Judd will be the keynote speaker this week at the National Women’s Leadership Summit, an ongoing initiative of the Louisiana Center for Women and Government, headquartered at Nicholls State University.

Slated for Thursday, Sept. 9, through Saturday, Sept. 11, the summit will take place at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock, Ark., where women leaders from across the nation will meet to discuss energy and environmental issues, resulting in a compact signaling their intention to enact policy changes at all levels of government.

Judd’s keynote address, titled “How to Have a Breakthrough, Not a Breakdown,” is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10.

Co-chairs of the summit include U.S. Senators Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas. Attendees from southeast Louisiana include Dr. Laura Badeaux, director of the Louisiana Center for Women and Government; Elaine Musso, center assistant; Debi Benoit, Nicholls director of research and sponsored programs; Donnell Zeringue, chair of the center’s Bayou Region Leadership Council; Kathleen Mix, chair of the center’s New Orleans Leadership Council; and Faith Peperone and Carol Short, center members from New Orleans.
