Nicholls police officers receive national recognition

THIBODAUX – The American Police Hall of Fame and Museum, a Florida-based non-profit organization founded in 1960, has honored two Nicholls State University Police officers.

Steve Tullis, university police lieutenant A, received the National Award Program’s Merit Award for Excellent Arrest, and Mike Richard, university police sergeant A, received the program’s General Commendation Award. Tullis and Richard, who have served at Nicholls for seven and three years, respectively, received their awards on Dec. 15 at the university’s annual Quality Achievement Awards banquet.

“I am very proud of Lt. Tullis and Sgt. Richard,” Craig Jaccuzzo, director of university police, said. “The Nicholls campus is a safe place thanks to professionals like them, and I am gratified that they have received this well-deserved national recognition.”
