THIBODAUX – Homecoming Week at Nicholls State University is slated to kick off Sunday, Oct. 16. Themed “One Team, One Goal: 40 Years of Colonel Football,” the annual festival will include several activities, most of which are open to the public and many of which are free of charge.
“The festivities that we’ve planned this year will be the best we’ve ever had,” Deborah Raziano, director of alumni affairs, said. “The 2011 Homecoming Committee invites the entire Colonel family, including alumni and students, to attend.”
Events will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, with the Kick-Off BBQ and conclude Sunday, Oct. 23, with the Nicholls Players production of “The Great American Trailer Park Musical.”
The annual Homecoming football game is slated for 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at John L. Guidry Stadium, where the Colonels will take on the Stephen F. Austin State University Lumberjacks. Other Homecoming Week events include the annual pirogue races; the 2011 Nicholls Alumni Federation John Brady Golf Tournament; the Alumni Federation Homecoming Reception and Pep Rally; and the Class of 1961 Reunion.
The College of Business Administration Alumni Association will host a homecoming social as well, scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21.
