More than 160 pieces to be displayed
THIBODAUX – The Louisiana Center for Dyslexia and Related Learning Disorders, headquartered at Nicholls State University, invites the public to attend an art auction on Friday, Aug. 10, at the Houma Municipal Auditorium located at 800 Verret St. All proceeds will benefit students served by the center.
“Art lovers are sure to enjoy this unique event,” Karen Chauvin, director of the center, said. “Plus, in this time of shrinking state funds for higher education institutions, they will be contributing to an organization that serves many students who need extra help.”
Doors will open at 6 p.m., at which time attendees can enjoy hors d’ oeuvres, beverages and music. Auction-goers can also browse a variety of lithographs, engravings, etchings, watercolors, silkscreens, giclées, cartoon cels, original oils and various mixed media, all framed.
The live auction will begin at 7 p.m. and feature originals and prints by artists including Salvador Dalí, Walt Disney, Pablo Picasso, LeRoy Neiman and several others, including a few local artists. Cash, checks and all major credit cards will be accepted.
Admission is $20 per person. To secure tickets, call 985-448-4214. Those who reserve their tickets by Sunday, Aug. 5, will be eligible for an exclusive prize drawing.
