NICHOLLS AWARDS 583 DEGREES
THIBODAUX — During its Dec. 15 commencement exercises, Nicholls State University awarded 583 degrees to students who completed their coursework in the summer and fall semesters.
Among the students were five summa cum laude graduates, who earned cumulative grade point averages of 3.9 or higher. They include Kandace Alexander, general studies major from Houma; Denise Badgerow, finance major from Houma; Yvette Barbier, culinary arts major from Baton Rouge; Amanda Deadmond, biology (pre-medicine/pre-dentistry) major from Slidell; and Ryan Smith, history major from Larose. Barbier and Deadmond also received the President’s Medal of Honor, which recognizes a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
During the morning’s commencement exercises, Nicholls awarded an honorary Doctor of Commerce to Michael Voisin, owner and CEO of Motivatit Seafoods. U.S. District Court Judge Jane Triche Milazzo, a 1977 Nicholls alumna, delivered the keynote address at both ceremonies.
A complete list of graduates is downloadable here (xlsx). Academic honors are noted. Students graduating magna cum laude earned a GPA of 3.7 to 3.899, and cum laude honorees earned a GPA of 3.5 to 3.699.
