Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra to Perform at Nicholls

THIBODAUX – For a third year, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra will return to the Nicholls State University campus for a public performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 25 in the Mary M. Danos Theater.

Prior to the performance, there will be a discussion session with orchestra CEO James William Boyd, Conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto and featured Italian Pianist Benedetto Lupo at 6:45 p.m. in Talbot 215. There is no admission charge for this session.

Lupo gained worldwide recognition after winning the bronze medal in the Eighth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1989. His success led to critically acclaimed debuts with several American orchestras, appearances with the Tokyo String Quartet and solo recitals at the prestigious Lincoln Center in New York and Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena, California. He has won numerous other international competitions and awards.

The performance will include selections from Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 and “Homage to Federico Garcia Lorca” by Silvestre Revueltas.

Concert tickets are $20 and may be purchased at lpomusic.com. Students can reserve a free ticket by entering a promotional code, which they can obtain by calling the Nicholls Department of Music at 985-448-4600 or visiting 240 Talbot Hall.
