Explore Creativity at Nicholls “Art Works” Fundraiser

THIBODAUX — The community is invited to spend a hands-on evening exploring the Nicholls State University Department of Art at the inaugural Art Works fundraiser.

Art Works will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 1 in the Ameen Art Gallery, 200 Talbot Hall on the Nicholls campus. The event benefits student art scholarships.

Attendees will be treated to studio tours, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and a chance to participate in the artistic process, molding pottery or creating cyanotypes, a type of photographic print. Event-goers can also watch student and faculty demonstrations, including metal pouring and printmaking.

There will also be opportunities to purchase original artworks by students and faculty. The event will include a student art exhibition with all pieces on sale for $50 and a silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind artwork by students, faculty, alumni and local artists.

Tickets are $50, but in lieu of a ticket, you may donate a 4” x 6” piece of original artwork to be displayed and sold during the evening. All works must be received by Thursday, March 27, at the Department of Art, 221 Talbot Hall, or by the Old Estate Art Gallery, 202 E. Seventh Street, Thibodaux. Works may be in any media and must be signed on the back. Please include your name and contact information.

For tickets or more information contact the Nicholls Department of Art at 985-448-4597 or connie.doran@www.nicholls.edu.
