Nicholls set to enter Phase III alert, campus curfew planned

THIBODAUX – With the approach of Hurricane Nate, Nicholls State University will initiate a Phase III alert at 7 p.m. tonight in accordance with the university’s Hurricane Emergency Plan, posted at emergency.www.nicholls.edu.

Effective 7 p.m. this evening, the university will close and an on-campus curfew will be implemented. We recommend that all students who are trying to get home ahead of the storm allow ample time for travel, as conditions will deteriorate in the coming hours. We discourage traveling into the path of the storm and would prefer those students to shelter on campus.

Campus Dining operations will operate as scheduled for brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. As a result of the curfew, Campus Dining operations will adjust evening service from 4-6 p.m. The intention is to keep people off the roads and out of danger during the worst times of the storm.

Classes and all activities at Nicholls State University will be cancelled at 7 p.m. when the university enters Phase III.

The Emergency Preparedness Committee will continue to monitor the status of the storm and will take additional action if necessary.

Please continue to monitor www.nicholls.edu and Nicholls social media for updates.
