THIBODAUX, La. — Nicholls first-ever social media team was named Most Creative at the Ball State Center for Advancement of Digital Marketing and Analytics Fourth Annual Social Media Competition.

The four-person team consisting of Allie Boudreaux, Carleigh Seibert, Alexandria Prosperie and Harley Talbot finished among the top three during the competition after advancing past the semifinal round on Saturday, April 7, over schools such as the University of Texas-Arlington, Ball State University and James Madison University.

The team prepared a social media campaign for YWCA USA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. During the finals, the teams were given a twist – focusing on the local chapter – being limited to just one social media platform and having just 20 minutes to adjust their campaign.

“I’m so very proud of this team and very excited to see all of their hard work pay off,” said Dr. Laura Valenti, assistant professor of marketing and the team’s advisor. “This was a great experience for this group. They got real-world experienced with feedback from clients and social media professionals. They couldn’t be better prepared for a job in social media.”

Forty teams participated in the initial round of the competition which was held in Muncie, Indiana.
