Nicholls to hold crawfish boil in memory of alum

THIBODAUX, La. — The Nicholls State University Department of Biological Sciences invites you to eat crawfish and support student opportunities while honoring the memory of a former student this Saturday.

The annual Rachel Ianni Crawfish Boil and Cajun Music Jam will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 at the Nicholls Farm.

A former biology graduate student with a reputation for being a hard-working researcher, Ianni (MBS ‘11) was killed when she slipped and fell into a steep ravine while hiking Machu Picchu.

The event is free but attendees are asked to make a $35 donation at the door. Proceeds help send graduate students to conferences and to out-of-state internships.

Providing the music are Cajun music band, the Daiquiri Queens.
