Nicholls ranked among top public universities in the South by US News and World Report

THIBODAUX, La. — Nicholls State University has been named one of the top universities in the South by the prestigious U.S. News & World Report.

Nicholls ranked as the 37th Top Public School and 95th Best Regional University in the South.

“At Nicholls State University, we have been enthusiastically filling the needs of the Bayou Region for 70 years, and we take pride knowing that our graduates are ready for whatever the world throws at them,” said Dr. Sue Westbrook, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “It’s exciting to see that U.S. News & World Report has recognized our efforts and has named us one of the best colleges in the South.”

A school’s ranking is affected by data, such as graduation rates, retention rates, academic reputation scores, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance and alumni giving rate. After the data is analyzed, each school is then broken up into national universities and regional universities, and the top 75 percent in each category is published.
