The Nicholls Department of Music Faculty to Perform Free Concert

THIBODAUX, La. — The Nicholls Department of Music faculty will perform a free concert of romantic music for those seeking more than the traditional dinner on Valentine’s Day.

“Love Notes” will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 in the Mary and Al Danos Theater. A free wine reception accompanied with student performances will be at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby.

“This is a fun way to share music and your love on a special day,” said Dr. John St. Marie, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities. “I think we always have a hard time figuring out what to do for Valentine’s Day other than dinner. This is perfect opportunity to take your sweetheart to a concert full of love songs, and it’s free.”

The evening will include faculty duets, such as a pianist and vocalist, with different styles of music including modern pop songs and classical piano sonnets. The classic love songs being sung will include timeless classics from as far back as the 1940s to today’s favorites.

The department of music plans to honor couples who met at Nicholls, and a photo backdrop will also be available for those wanting to capture the special date night.

For those with dinner plans, the evening should be concluded by 8:30 p.m.

“You can get a late dinner, or an early dinner and have time to go out for dessert afterward,” Dr. St. Marie said.
