THIBODAUX, La. — New Orleans nutritionist and Nicholls State University alum Ulrika Midner has been named the Louisiana Academy and Dietetics Outstanding Dietitian of the Year.
Midner (B.S. ‘14) is a clinical dietitian at the Touro Infirmary, a nonprofit hospital in the Children’s Hospital system. Midner, who moved to the U.S. from Sweden in 2006, is also president of the New Orleans Dietetic Association. She has previously worked as a clinical dietitian at Tulane Medical Center, Ochsner Baptist Medical Center and Ochsner Skilled Nursing & Inpatient Rehab – Elmwood.
Ashley Dufresne (B.S. ‘19) received the Irene Tolliver Pyburn Scholarship, which goes to an outstanding senior who is a dietetics major in Louisiana, an active member of the American Dietetic Association and accepted into an internship. Students are recognized for their achievements in and out of the classroom.
They received the awards at the Louisiana Academy for Nutrition and Dietetics annual conference in Baton Rouge in April.
An affiliate of the national organization, the Louisiana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, is a professional organization that represents more than 1,000 dietetic nutrition experts in the Pelican State. The organization seeks to promote healthy eating and living in Louisiana.
