THIBODAUX, La. — Nicholls State University’s nursing program has received multiple recognitions for quality and affordability by multiple online resources.

RegisterNursing.org ranked Nicholls online bachelor’s in nursing No. 7 in the country and the best in Louisiana. BestHealthDegrees.com named Nicholls nursing program the No. 4 most affordable accredited program in the country.

Dr. Sue Westbrook, provost and vice president for academic and student affairs, said she is delighted that the program was recognized.

“It’s satisfying to know that our program offers high quality at an affordable price,” said Dr. Westbrook, the former dean of the College of Nursing.

Registered Nursing.org determined their rankings used a variety of higher education statistics to determine their rankings while factoring in accreditation, graduation rates, tuition, the ratio of instructional faculty to tenured faculty and acceptance rate.

RegisteredNursing.org is a nursing advocacy organization with registered nurses that contribute resources for future nurses to obtain RN jobs.

BestHealthDegrees.com ranked schools didn’t only compare schools by their tuition. Each school must have accreditation from either the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

The online website is devoted to spreading awareness of healthcare education. Prospective students can learn the skills and training required for their desired career field, what salary they can expect to earn and tips on how to land the best jobs, as well as information on the college or university that best fits their needs.

An estimated 80 percent of the Bayou Region’s nurses are Nicholls alumni. The nursing program is the most popular program on campus and it’s also one of the most successful programs in the South, as our graduates regularly pass the RN licensure exam at rates higher than state and national averages. Students receive a hands-on education from award-winning and experienced faculty, and 100 percent of recent Nicholls nursing graduates are employed or in graduate school.
