United Houma Nation member to speak at Bonnie Bourg Lecture

THIBODAUX, La. — Local Native American advocate Lora Ann Chaisson will be the featured speaker for the 2019 Bonnie Bourg Lecture Series on Thursday, March 7.

Chaisson will deliver her lecture at 10:30 a.m. in the LeBijou Theater. The talk will be free and open to the public.

Following the presentation, Chaisson will give the keynote address at the Women of Achievement Award Luncheon at noon in the Student Union’s Carnival Room.

Chaisson worked with the Inter-Tribal Council of Louisiana and the Institute for Indian Development for 25 years, including the last 10 as program director for a domestic violence program assisting Louisiana Native American survivors of family violence, domestic violence and dating violence. She serves as a member of the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Violence Against Women Taskforce.
