THIBODAUX, La. — The Nicholls Department of Music invites the Bayou Region’s sweethearts to express their affection with an elegant evening celebrating Valentine’s Day.
The faculty “Love Notes” concert is back for a second year and will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13 in the Mary and Al Danos Theater. Audiences can expect a musical range from the classic Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra to the more modern John Legend and Sam Smith.
Several faculty members will share their talents through both singing and instrumentals. Three Nicholls couples will also perform duos.
“People loved this concert last year and were wondering why we don’t perform like this more often,” said Dr. John St. Marie, voice professor. “It is more lighthearted than our typical concert and it will be a classic night for lovers. Please come join us.”
The event will include Dr. St. Marie singing a set of love songs. Dr. Matthew Swihart will perform love arias on the trumpet. Dr. Taylor Assad will play the saxophone and also sing a few selections along with a student jazz assembly.
For the duos, pianist Dr. Luciana Soares and violinist James Alexander will bring their world-renowned talents to the stage. And Dr. Richard Jeric will play the piano while his wife, Sarah Jeric, sings a few selections.
Tickets, which are available at the door, are $10 for general admission and $5 for students. Proceeds will go toward the Nicholls Department of Music scholarship fund.
