THIBODAUX, La. — An international exhibit published a Nicholls art professor’s essay on an abstract expressionist artist last month.

Assistant professor of art history Dr. Ashley Busby’s work was featured in the catalog for “Farbe//Form: Dorothy Fratt & Stefan Rohrer” at the Stadtische Galerie in der Reithalle in Paderborn, Germany.

Fratt, who died in 2017, was one of the premier non-objective painters of her generation.

The essay examines Fratt’s career and experimentation with color and form. The Ameen Art Gallery exhibited Fratt’s paper art — some for the first time — last fall. Dr. Busby also wrote the catalog essay for the Ameen exhibit.

More recently, Frat’s work has been exhibited at the Yares Gallery in New York and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Arizona.
