Nicholls, Ochsner to Host COVID-19 Community Testing

THIBODAUX, La. — Nicholls State University is partnering with Ochsner Health to host a COVID-19 community testing site on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Testing will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Rec Center located at 147 Bowie Road. Tests are free and eligible to anyone ages 2 and older. If you wish to be tested, bring an ID and insurance card.

“Nicholls and the Bayou Region mean so much to one another so we’re proud to be able to provide a service like this,” said Dr. Alex Arceneaux, executive vice president for advancement and enrollment services. “I want to thank Ochsner for helping us provide testing to our community, and we look forward to working with them to provide more community testing in the future.”

If you cannot make it during the hours at Nicholls, Ochsner will offer further testing from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Houma Municipal Auditorium located at 880 Verret St.

Once you are tested, results will be posted in the  MyChart patient portal. You can also receive your results by phone. If you test positive, you can participate in Ochsner’s 14-day symptom tracker program designed for patients who do not require hospital care. Through the program you will receive daily texts to monitor your symptoms and can be seamlessly connected to an on-call nurse for additional support.
