Nicholls to Launch Scholarship Fundraiser

THIBODAUX, La. — Nicholls State University invites you to host your own food and wine tasting extravaganza by donating to the Sponsor A+ Scholar scholarship fund over the next two weeks.

The Sponsor A+ Scholar Wine and Food Tasting Extravaganza will not be held in person this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the last decade, Nicholls has awarded 159 scholarships worth $125,500.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 2, donors with gifts of at least $75 will receive a limited edition set of wine glasses etched with the Nicholls logo and a bamboo cheese serving board with an engraved Nicholls logo. The virtual fundraiser will run through Nov. 13. A limited amount of sets are available.

“While we are sad that we cannot host the A+ Scholar Food and Wine Extravaganza in person this year, we are excited about the opportunity to continue to raise much-needed scholarship dollars for our students,” said Monique Crochet (BS ‘98, MEd ‘00), executive director of external affairs. “Now more than ever, scholarships are a necessity for our students so that they may continue to pursue their dreams of a college degree.”

The A+ Leadership Scholarship is awarded annually each Fall to high school students actively involved in their community with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 and a minimum ACT of 21, or full-time Nicholls student leaders with a 2.50 GPA.

Peoples Drug Store in Houma are the headline sponsor for this year’s event.
