Nicholls Offering Spring Learning Opportunities for Adults

THIBODAUX, La. — The Office of Continuing Education has some options if you would like to learn or improve a hobby.

“We are excited that we are in Phase 3 and to be able to offer classes for all ages,” said Elizabeth McCurry, director of continuing education. “These courses are a great way to explore new interests.”

The first class, chess, begins Monday, March 22, and the second, pottery, begins April 12.

Mike Papa, who is a United States Chess Federation National Master, will coach six classes, teaching beginners how to play and help those more experienced improve their game. The $150 course will also feature chess tournaments. The schedule is 6 p.m. on March 22 and March 29, and then April 12, April 19, April 26 and May 3 in Bayou Suites in the Student Union.

Nicholls art alum Ashley Tabor will teach all levels how to use the pottery wheel and hand-building to create functional and sculptural objects. The $200 class meets at 6 p.m. Monday nights, April 12 to May 17, in Talbot 108.
