THIBODAUX, La. — The Nicholls State University Petroleum Engineering and Safety Technology (PETSM) program has been ranked for quality and affordability by two online resources.
TradeCollege.org ranked Nicholls No. 1 for Mining & Petroleum Technology programs in Most Popular Online Trade Schools and Most Popular Online Associate’s Degree Trade Schools. Additionally, the website ranked the PETSM program No. 3 in Most Popular Online Associate’s Degree Trade Schools in the Southeast Region and No. 10 in Most Popular Online Associate’s Degree Trade Schools, both in the Engineering Technologies category.
BestValueSchools.org ranked PETSM No. 14 in its 25 Most Affordable Engineering Degrees in 2021 list.
TradeCollege.org ranked programs based on the number of students graduating. BestValueSchools.org primarily ranked its schools on tuition, but also considered financial aid offered and how students rated the programs.
The PETSM program has educated oil and gas professionals for over 40 years. It is one of the most popular and unique programs on the Nicholls campus. A feature is the ability for students to register for classes that meet their rotational work schedules, such as 7-on, 7-off and 14-on, 14-off.
