The online educational resource ranked the program No. 35 in the country, and noted Nicholls provides the best modern history focus.
“Although we’re a small program, we do emphasize the importance of modern history to give students a greater understanding of the world around them,” said Dr. Paul Wilson, history and geography department head. “We also offer practical job training in our public history program and internship opportunities.”
Intelligent.com ranked programs based on factors including accreditation, faculty, course strength, cost and flexibility.

Job growth for historians is expected to grow by 3 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, including an 11 percent expected demand for archivists and curators to meet the public’s growing interest in history. The bureau reports that historians earn a salary of more than $63,000.
