Nicholls to host Bollinger-Tauzin Business & Political Leadership Institute

THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University will partner with former U.S. Rep. Billy Tauzin and business leader Donald “Boysie” Bollinger to host the Bollinger-Tauzin Business & Political Leadership Institute from 5-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, in the Mary and Al Danos Theater. This is a free leadership session open to business, community and student leaders throughout the Nicholls community.

The event’s keynote speaker is Donald “Boysie” Bollinger, a prominent businessman and shipbuilder. Under his direction, Bollinger Shipyards became a key player in the defense, commercial and oilfield maritime industries. He led the company for several decades, growing it into one of the largest privately-owned shipbuilding companies in the U.S., with a strong reputation for producing high-quality vessels, particularly for the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy.

He has also served as chair of the Nicholls Foundation Board and has been active in civic and philanthropic work, contributing to education, economic development and community initiatives, especially in Louisiana. He has received multiple honors for his contributions to the industry and the region.

The Bollinger-Tauzin Institute is led by Billy Tauzin, co-chair; Donald “Boysie” Bollinger, co-chair; Monica Azare Davenport; Hunt Downer; Ron Faucheux; Terri Fontenot; Garret Graves; Tom Shanklin; and John Weimer.

“The institute’s purpose is to share the wisdom and experience of successful leaders in business and politics with Nicholls’ students, especially those common leadership principles that have guided their success within business and politics,” Billy Tauzin said. “I hope that a deeper understanding of the intricate relationships in the American free market economy and our system of self-governance will serve the students well as they graduate into the world of work and American politics.”

Registration for the event is available here.
