Nicholls State University Homecoming Royalty Crowned

THIBODAUX, La. – Seniors Timyra Cotton and Lance Jones were named the Nicholls State University 2024 Homecoming Queen and King during the football game halftime on Saturday, Oct. 26. The Colonels defeated the McNeese State University Cowboys 24-19, maintaining their home game winning streak. 

Cotton is a psychology pre-counseling major from Chalmette. As president of the Student Programming Association, Student Wellness Team and Hall Director of Scholars Hall, Timyra is passionate about inclusion and school spirit. Known for her dedication to diversity, inclusion and enthusiasm, Timyra is honored to be a part of the homecoming court and looks forward to the school’s tradition and community.

Jones is a mass communication major from New Orleans. He is a proud student leader at Nicholls and has navigated campus by being involved in numerous organizations and countless sporting events. His involvement in student government, the Black Student Union, Omega Psi Phi and Pre-Law Society displays his colonel pride on campus. In addition, he does community service across organizations like 100 Black Men, Reginald F. Lewis Scholars and Junior Zulu.
