THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University Police Chief Alexander Barnes was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of Police. This appointment reflects Chief Barnes’ outstanding leadership, commitment to public safety and dedication to advancing law enforcement across the state of Louisiana.
The LACP Board of Directors includes law enforcement leaders from across Louisiana who work together to enhance professional standards, share best practices, influence policy and support agencies in their efforts to provide effective community-oriented policing.
“I am deeply honored to represent university policing and to contribute to the important work being done across our state to advance law enforcement excellence,” said Chief Barnes. “I look forward to collaborating with my fellow chiefs to continue building safer communities for all Louisianans.”
Barnes has served as chief of police at Nicholls since 2020, where he has championed initiatives focused on campus safety, officer development and community engagement. Under his leadership, the department has expanded its training programs, strengthened partnerships with local and regional emergency management agencies and implemented proactive measures to foster a safe learning environment for students, faculty and staff.
