THIBODAUX, La. – Through a University Affiliate Grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful, Nicholls State University will be able to install more bottle filling stations across high-traffic areas of campus.
The Sustainable Campus Hydration Initiative will help reduce single-use plastic waste and promote sustainable hydration practices across campus, providing students, faculty, staff and visitors with convenient access to clean, filtered water.
The initiative will be led by Keep Nicholls Beautiful in partnership with the Student Government Association and the Facilities Services Department. Together, these groups will oversee the installation, maintenance and educational outreach efforts tied to the new hydration stations.
Through events, social media campaigns and educational signage, the initiative will highlight the environmental benefits of reusable bottles and track the number of single-use bottles saved. The program will engage more than 5,000 students, as well as faculty, staff and visitors who utilize campus facilities throughout the year.
This project aligns with both Nicholls State University’s sustainability goals and Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s mission of promoting environmental stewardship, waste reduction and community education.
