Nicholls State University and StudyNPlay Partner to Launch Program for Student-Parents

THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University and StudyNPlay signed a memorandum of understanding to pilot a program designed to support the academic and personal development of student-parents.

The program, using the StudyNPlay framework, aims to remove the barriers that often force students to choose between their education and childcare. The goal is to strengthen student-parent success by providing access to dedicated study spaces, supervised play-based support for children and holistic resources to improve retention and graduation rates.

“Nicholls is committed to addressing the unique needs of our parenting students,” said Nicholls Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Michele Caruso. “Through this partnership, we are ensuring our students have the tools they need to succeed as scholars, professionals and providers for their families.”

Nicholls is the founding implementation site for the StudyNPlay framework on a college campus and is identifying a campus space to host the program and integrate it into the university’s existing student support and success initiatives. StudyNPlay will provide the framework, technical assistance and staff training for Nicholls during the pilot phase. Both organizations will collect, analyze and evaluate data to determine the impact of the framework on workforce readiness and academic performance.
