THIBODAUX – As new lights are installed at Nicholls State University’s John L. Guidry Stadium, university administrators are informing area residents, university personnel and students that they should expect temporary inconveniences.
Mike Davis, assistant vice president for administration, said the new lights will need to be “burned in” to function properly – meaning each light, once installed, will remain lit for a 48-hour period, uninterrupted.
Davis said the process could begin as soon as Monday, July 27, when the installation of poles at both the southeast and northeast corners of the stadium is slated to occur. Barker Hall will be closed from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., or until the southeast installation is complete, for precautionary purposes. Moreover, state vehicles must be moved from the area by the end of the work day on Friday, July 24. Personal vehicles should be parked near Didier Field or Chabert Hall, Davis said.
Beginning Tuesday, July 28, the two light poles on the west side of the stadium are expected to be installed, which will temporarily affect access to the Century Club room, Davis said.
Installation schedules might vary, depending on weather conditions.
“We thank everyone for their cooperation and regret any inconvenience that might result from this project,” Davis said.
