Registration User Guide

Accessing Registration

  • Log into the myNicholls website using your myNicholls ID and password at my.nicholls.edu.
  • Click on the Student Registration tile.

Once in the Registration application:

  • Click on the Prepare For Registration link to ensure you’re ready to register. Select the term to register. Once there, you can check your registration status and see any holds that prevent registration.
  • Click on Registration.
  • Click on Register for Classes to search and register for classes. You will also be able to manage your schedule.

Navigating Action Item Processing

You will have to accept the Financial Responsibility Obligation Agreement (FROA) for each new registration cycle through Action Item Processing. Clicking the Register for Classes link will open Action Item Processing automatically when you have pending action items.

  • Once the Action Item box opens, click CONTINUE on the Action Item Processing box.
  • Click on the appropriate Action Item still showing as Pending, and follow the applicable directions. (For FROA, once the information has been reviewed, check the “I accept the terms of this agreement.” box, and click Save.)
  • Only once all Action Items have been processed and changed to Completed will you be able to continue and register for courses.

How to Register for Classes

Adding a Class

  1. On the Registration homepage, select Register for Classes.
  2. From the dropdown menu, select the intended term for registration and click continue.

NOTE: If your scheduled day or time has not yet been reached for your classification or grouping, you will see an error reading “Time tickets prevent registration at this time.”  Please refer to the Schedule of Classes/Registration web page for registration information.

  1. There are several options available:
    • Find Classes
      • Basic Search criteria include Subject, Course Number, and Keyword.
      • Advanced Search includes additional course search criteria for Instructor, Attribute (for textbook cost), Level, College, Department, Schedule Type (for online/hybrid), Part of Term, and the Open Sections Only checkbox.
      • Clicking the Course Title will display additional course information, such as: Class Details, Course Description, Instructor/Meeting Times, Additional Fees, Prerequisites, and other relevant course information.
      • From the search results, find the course you would like to add to your schedule.
      • To add a course to your schedule, click the Add button.
    • Enter CRNs
      • To add a class using the CRN (Course Reference Number), enter the CRN to register.
    • Plans
      • If you have already built a Registration Plan using the Plan Ahead feature, you will see and be able to Edit your previously created plans.
      • You have the option to either Add All courses at once or Add courses individually from a plan.
  1. View your added courses in the Summary section. You must click the Submit button to register your added courses.
  2. Registration error checking will occur at the time of registration. Error messages such as time conflict or section closed may appear in the top right hand corner of your screen. To clear the messages, click submit. Questions related to registration errors may be addressed at the department or dean’s level for the course. Refer to the Department Telephone Directory for Registration Assistance.
  3. Check Conditional Add and Drop when you want to drop a course from your schedule only on the “condition” that you are able to add a new course to your schedule without error.

Dropping a Class

  1. If you need to remove a class before the end of the drop/add period, navigate to the Summary section on the bottom right.
  2. Under the Action column, click the dropdown menu on the course you wish to remove and select Web Drop/Delete.
  3. Click the Submit button to finalize the schedule adjustment. The course(s) will be removed from your schedule.

Browsing for Courses

  1. Click on the Student Registration tile from the myNicholls website.
  2. Click on the Browse Classes button. Once in the course search screen, select the desired semester from the dropdown menu.

 Searching for Classes

  • Basic Search criteria include Subject, Course Number, and Keyword.
  • Advanced Search includes additional course search criteria for Instructor, Attribute (for textbook cost), Level, College, Department, Schedule Type (for online/hybrid), Part of Term, and the Open Sections Only checkbox.
  • You will see all the courses that meet your search criteria.
  • Clicking a Course Title will display additional course information, such as: Class Details, Course Description, Instructor/Meeting Times, Additional Fees, Prerequisites, and other relevant course information.

Using Registration Plans

  • Plans allow you to build your ideal schedule for a future term.
  • You can save up to three plans for each term.
  • When registration opens for that term, you can register directly from your plan.

Creating a Plan

  • Log into the myNicholls website using your myNicholls ID and password at my.nicholls.edu.
  • Click on the Student Registration tile.
  • Once in the Registration application:
  1. Click on the Plan Ahead link to create a Registration Plan. Select the term for which to plan your schedule.
  2. Click on Create a New Plan. You will be able to edit, review, or delete previously built plans here as well.
    • Basic Search criteria include Subject, Course Number, and Keyword.
    • Advanced Search includes additional course search criteria for Instructor, Attribute (for textbook cost), Level, College, Department, Schedule Type (for online/hybrid), Part of Term, and the Open Sections Only checkbox.
    • You will see all the courses that meet your search criteria.
    • Clicking a Course Title will display additional course information, such as: Class Details, Course Description, Instructor/Meeting Times, Additional Fees, Prerequisites, and other relevant course information.
  3. From the search results, find the course you would like to add to your schedule.
  4. To view all available sections including meeting days/times, click the View Sections button. From there, you will be able to Add courses to your plan.
  5. You must click the Save Plan button to save the courses to your plan.

Registering from a Plan

  • To register for classes from a plan, navigate to the Register for Classes link as normal. Select the Plans tab to bring up your previously created plans.
  • You have the option to either Add All courses at once or Add courses individually.
  • After adding courses, click the Submit button to finalize your schedule adjustment.
  • Registration error checking will occur at the time of registration. Error messages such as time conflict or section closed may appear in the top right hand corner of your screen.
