Nicholls Foundation pioneer dies

THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University mourns Donald Peltier, a longtime supporter, who died Thursday, March 6.

“Donald was a wise and generous friend of Nicholls,” said Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president. “He was a charter member of the Nicholls Foundation and served as its first president. As a strong civic leader, he directed community support to Nicholls at every opportunity. This university is a better institution because of Donald’s positive vision. The entire university joins Becky and me in mourning his death, and we will keep his family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Hugh Hamilton, current president of the Nicholls Foundation, said Peltier’s service cannot be overstated.

“He meant so much, not only to the City of Thibodaux but to Nicholls State University. Our foundation would not be what it is today if it were not for him. He will be deeply missed and very fondly remembered.”
