Board of Regents awards Nicholls more than $500,000

THIBODAUX – The Louisiana Board of Regents has awarded Nicholls State University $537,267 in research grants for 2012 – nearly $300,000 more than last year.

Michael Gautreaux, assistant professor of safety technology and program coordinator of safety technology and petroleum services, received Nicholls State University’s largest Board of Regents research grant for 2012. Totaling $184,894, the grant will be matched by industry partners to fund new petroleum services labs.

“Congratulations to all our faculty members who applied and qualified for these funds,” Debi Benoit, director of research and sponsored programs, said. “The core academic mission of Nicholls depends in large part on these types of projects, and we are most grateful to the members of the Board of Regents for their approval.”
