Nicholls plays tribute to veterans past and present

THIBODAUX – U.S. Marine Corps veteran Gilberto Burbante, coordinator of veterans services at Nicholls State University, welcomes community members to the university’s Veterans Day ceremony on Friday, Nov. 9. The ceremony featured patriotic songs, remarks from Nicholls student veterans and a keynote address from Lt. Col. Thomas Friloux of the Louisiana Army National Guard.

 

Sam Tabor, U.S. Army veteran from Schriever, salutes the American flag during Nicholls State University’s Veterans Day ceremony on Friday, Nov. 9. “Nicholls proudly celebrates our armed forces — those who are here with us today, those who couldn’t be here, those who have gone before us and those who are still actively serving so that we can continue to enjoy freedoms like no other country,” said Larry Howell, U.S. Air Force veteran and Nicholls executive vice president. Nearly 200 veterans are currently enrolled as Nicholls students.
