Ellender Memorial Library helped Scholars Expeaux presenters print research posters without cost.
Library Technical Services staff printed 60 of the event’s posters, saving students and faculty roughly $2,760, or an average of $46 per poster, based on prices from Office Depot.
“Having a poster printing service on campus fulfills the research and creative projects of our students,” said Dr. John Doucet, College of Sciences and Technology Dean and Expeaux Chair. “Instead of concerning themselves with finding solutions to printing complications, printing location, and printing costs, we provide this service on campus in the Library, where it is extremely convenient and efficient for students–and faculty as well.”
Doucet says the library staff help students professionalize their posters and prepare students for future presentations, even beyond graduation.
Library Director Brandy Burbante says the library is proud to be a part of helping students show off the amazing research happening at Nicholls.
“Scholars Expeaux is the library’s largest event for poster printing, and I have to give a shoutout to William Charron and Cain Madden from the library’s Technical Services Department for their work printing posters,” she said. “They do a lot behind the scenes to help students and faculty with their files before pressing the print button.”
The Library is able to offer the printing service free of charge to students thanks to funding contributions from SGA.
