Nicholls to Receive Nearly $1 Million in Federal Funds

Debi Benoit, director of research and sponsored programs at Nicholls, said the congressionally appropriated funds will be used to support the Clean Power and Energy Research Consortium, a joint university venture tasked to address critical scientific and engineering issues in power and energy generation.

CPERC’s goal is to develop technologies that will lead to a 10-percent reduction of fuel consumption as well as a reduction in greenhouse gasses in the United States – 10 million metric tons per year.

Partners in the consortium include Nicholls, Louisiana State University, the University of New Orleans, Tulane University and Southern University in Baton Rouge.
