THIBODAUX – Power was restored to La Maison du Bayou Apartments and residence halls B and C at Nicholls State University Monday evening. Residents in these buildings may return to campus immediately. Power was restored to all other university offices and buildings last Friday.
All university offices reopened on Monday, and classes are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Faculty members will be available to assist students between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. until classes resume. Students can also contact their instructors through Blackboard, e-mail or by telephone.
Students who are currently in residence at Nicholls and local commuters have full access to the following university services:
Computer and internet access in Ellender Computer Lab, located in Room 125 Ellender Memorial Library, from7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9. Ellender, Cenac and Ayo computer labs are scheduled to open Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Galliano Dining Hall will be open Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 7 to 9 a.m. for breakfast, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. for dinner. Meal plans will be honored. All food service operations, including the Student Union food court, Subconnection, C-Store and Café à la Cart, will resume normal hours of operation beginning Wednesday, Sept. 10.
The University Counseling Center is prepared to assist students or employees who need help coping with the emotional trauma of a crisis. The services are free and available to all current Nicholls students and employees. To contact the University Counseling Center, call (985) 448-4080 or stop by their offices located at 224 Elkins Hall.
University officials continue to monitor Hurricane Ike. The university community will be notified if Phase I storm preparations are implemented.
