Guidry Stadium resulting from Hurricane Gustav.

An inspection of the stadium’s lights indicated that at least two poles lack structural integrity as a result of high winds.

“The safety of the players, coaches, fans and officials is of utmost importance,” Hulbert said. “Bowie State officials were also concerned about the unpredictability of Hurricane Ike and its impact on their travel plans.”

Nicholls will request that the State of Louisiana take immediate action to address the situation.

“If stadium lighting is not available, the remainder of the games may be moved to daylight hours,” Hulbert said. “While I am eager for the 2008 Colonel football team to take the field, I must ensure that everyone who comes to Guidry Stadium can enjoy the game without fear of injury.”
