Nicholls presents 2008 Homecoming Royalty and Court

THIBODAUX – The 2008 Homecoming Queen, King and Court of Nicholls State University were presented at the Homecoming football game against the University of Central Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 1.homecomingcourt08.jpg

Marquita Hill, a senior from Boutte majoring in child and family social services, was crowned as Homecoming Queen by Dr. Stephen Hulbert, president of Nicholls. Hill is the daughter of Dean and Marschell Hill. Crowned as the Homecoming King was Ugochukwu Ezema, a senior biology pre-med major from Kingston, Jamaica. Ezema is the son of Dennis and Grace Ezema.

Honoring Hill and Ezema were Brett Terrebonne, president of the Nicholls Alumni Federation; Debbie Raziano, director of alumni affairs and chair of the Homecoming committee at Nicholls and Dr. Barry Landry, 2008 Homecoming parade grand marshal and recipient of the 2008 James Lynn Powell outstanding alumnus award.

Hill was nominated by Residence Life, of which she is head resident. She is also the treasurer for the Resident Hall Association, and a student Supreme Court justice for the Student Government Association.

Ugochukwu is vice president of the Nicholls International Community, a Student Government Association senator and an NAACP ambassador. The National Pan-Hellenic Council nominated him.

The members of the 2008 Nicholls Homecoming Court are: Melissa Chabert, daughter of John and Robin Chabert, a communicative disorders senior from Galliano. Escorting Chabert was Richard Joseph Abarr of Talisheek. The son of Bobby and Carlyn Abarr, he is a secondary education senior.Marquita Christy, daughter of Whitney and Monique Christy, is a psychology junior from Donaldsonville. Cody Blanchard of Pierre Part, a junior majoring in marketing, escorted her. He is the son of Darrin and Sandy Blanchard.

Meagan Hebert, daughter of Marcia and Rene Hebert Jr., is a communicative disorders junior from Raceland. Escorting her was Dexter Paul Charles, an athletic training senior from Thibodaux and the son of David and Carmel Charles Sr.

Brittany Ohlin, daughter of Pat and Ralf Ohlin, is a junior majoring in nursing from Berwick. Her escort was Ryan Donegan of Thibodaux, a junior majoring in marketing and the son of Milton and Jean Donegan.

Sara Taylor, daughter of Debra Mestas and Charles Taylor, is a human resource management senior from Houma. Her escort was Philip Dupre, a senior from Belle Rose majoring in management. He is the son of Steve and Cathy Dupre.

Anna Waguespack, daughter of Anthony and Paula Waguespack, is a nursing junior from Thibodaux. Escorting her was Lardarius Webb, a general studies senior from Opelika, Ala. Webb, who helped the Colonels achieve a 20-17 victory in the Homecoming football game, is the son of Larry and Mary Thomas. Standing in for Webb during the crowning ceremony that afternoon was his long-time friend Wesley Burt, also from Opelika, Ala.
