Federal government honors Nicholls for service-learning

THIBODAUX – For the third consecutive year, Nicholls State University has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. Launched in 2006, the list recognizes colleges and universities nationwide that support innovative community service and service-learning programs.

“I am delighted that Nicholls has once again received this national recognition,” Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president, said. “Service-learning – and more specifically, class-related service work in support of the surrounding community – is a recognized strength of this university. It is wonderful that our faculty and students continue to be acknowledged for their considerable contributions.”

Spearheaded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the annual honor roll is sponsored by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
