THIBODAUX – The public is invited to attend the rededication ceremony for P. G. T. Beauregard Hall, one of Nicholls State University’s oldest buildings.

Scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, near the overhauled facility’s quadrangle entrance, the ceremony will feature remarks by Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president. Parking will be available on Madewood Drive.

The 49 year-old, 52,000 square-foot Beauregard Hall has been almost completely reconfigured and re-equipped for science education and research. Nothing but the steel framework and terrazzo floors from the original structure remain.

“It’s exciting to have one of the university’s most significant science classroom and research facilities rejuvenated in such a wonderful way,” Hulbert said.

Beauregard’s enhancements include laboratories equipped with the latest technologies; new classrooms with fresh carpet and new furnishings; public areas overlooking the quadrangle; and a new elevator and ADA-compliant staircases.

Additional improvements include upgraded and expanded electrical service; walk-in specimen coolers; multiple computer access points; and large, high-definition television and audiovisual screens.
