Nicholls takes lead in beach restoration

Dr. Allyse Ferrara and Dr. Quenton Fontenot, associate professors of biological sciences at Nicholls State University, explain the importance of a beach fence for building sand dunes to protect beach and marsh vegetation on Friday, Sept. 17.

The fence was built on Elmer’s Island with funding from the Gulf of Mexico Foundation and is part of an ongoing Nicholls study of coastal plants restoration techniques.
