Nicholls to host Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra

THIBODAUX – The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Carlos Miguel Prieto, will perform in Nicholls State University’s Talbot Theater at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28.

Hosted by the Nicholls Foundation and the Nicholls Department of Music, the performance will feature the premiere of “Shadows,” a new piece for piano and orchestra by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, featuring acclaimed pianist Jeffrey Biegel. Other selections to be performed include Symphony No. 5 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and “Les offrandes oubliées” by Olivier Messiaen.

Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at lpomusic.com/nicholls. Student tickets are redeemable at no cost, provided the purchaser enters a promotional code, available in Room 240, Talbot Hall, on the Nicholls campus.

A public lecture and question-and-answer session with Prieto, Zwilich and Biegel will precede the concert at 6:15 p.m. in Room 215, Talbot Hall.
