THIBODAUX – Grammy Award winner Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band will offer the public a free education in Zydeco music and dance at Nicholls State University on Thursday, March 15.
Intended as a preparatory event for the fourth annual Louisiana Swamp Stomp Festival, slated for March 16-18, Carrier’s series of classes and performances will kick off with a class titled “Zydeco from A to Z,” scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in the Le Bijou Theater of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union.
An outdoor, two-hour concert will follow at 10:30 a.m. in front of the student union, followed by Zydeco dance lessons from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the same location.
